Logo Design for the Wabyd Wabbit

My dear friend Ed Raby (known as The Rabyd Atheist on YouTube and pronounced “rabid”) was looking to make some changes to his channel and needed an official logo.

Due to inaccuracies with automated subtitles, a fellow viewer of the channel noticed “Rabyd" was translated to “Rabbit," which then morphed into the Wabyd Wabbit Atheist because that's what happens when you put a bunch of Gen-X/Millennial nerds in a live chat together unsupervised.

Ed loved the joke and wanted to incorporate it into his branding. Always eager to jump on the opportunity to entertain myself with another useful digital art project (and super happy to help out a very good friend), I offered my services to come up with a new logo for our favorite fuzzy benevolent dictator (with his big sharp pointy teeth!).

I figured I'd share the many iterations of the Wabyd Rabbit as well as the new official logo.

I initially started with a realistic and literal interpretation of a “rabid rabbit,” but Ed wanted less horror and more cartoon.

I LOVE word art and enjoy making ambigrams (words or phrases that look the same right-side-up or upside-down) in my free time. With this in mind, I had a genius moment where I came up with this using the “R” and “A” in the design.
